Hello World - 2nd post
Hello world
Section titled “Hello world”Allright, so this is technically the second post.
But it’s the first proper post; previous one was a reference announcement type.
But this one? this is the launch post.
What is this?
Section titled “What is this?”This is a launch event blog entry.
What is being launched?
Section titled “What is being launched?”A directory of businesses that accept cash.
Why, what does it do, what’s in it for you?
Section titled “Why, what does it do, what’s in it for you?”Allright, so without going into a long explanation about reasons, or ideological justification, etc, the premise is simple. Too often, when you want to use cash, you cannot.
So this has been in the back of my head for a long time; it has taken shape there, I wrote a business plan years ago. And it is simple… just go to your newly formed hipster coffee shop:
There’s a good chance the service counter is clean of clutter, likely all white, and all there is there is some (white again) little table, which serves as the point of sale (POS) and also doubles as payment machine; and if you look around, there’s likely a sign:
Well, bohoo.
Core Use Case
Section titled “Core Use Case”Problem is really, if you want to just give $5 to your kids to go buy a hot chocolate, well, they really need to take your card, and possible you need to give them the PIN to your card.
Why?
It’s the dumbest thing ever.
Here’s my $5, get me my hot chocolate.
Simpler times, no?
Directional Guidance
Section titled “Directional Guidance”It would be nice to have a large directory of stores, stores in malls, events, farmer markets, marketplaces, etc.. that list merchants that accept cash. This is that directory.
Directory registration and usage will be free.
Once there’s initial usage critical mass, and depending on interest, I will add on a few things such as features/deals publication and dissemination.
